Club History

  • 2009-Present

In 2009, Rick Skelly officially retired from a long, distinguished and productive service to Nova SC, as a Board member of MAPLE, and to the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association.  In passing the baton to Tony Luong and now Randy Gasbarro we continue to build upon the core values Rick has insisted when forming Nova. Tony’s countless hours of hard work built a successful boy’s program as Randy is developing our Juniors Academy, or our future Nova stars

  • 1998 - 2008

Nova SC began in 1998 when Rick Skelly had a vision and a desire to develop a premier girls soccer club in southeastern Massachusetts. Players would receive professional instruction, be challenged to not only play at their highest capacity but to develop a love for the game.  Despite being a small club, Nova SC has seen its share of players rise to the highest levels in college and the professional rank. More importantly has created countless positive experiences for our members.  Nova SC was one of the founding members of the Massachusetts Premier Soccer League, (MAPLE) where our teams were regularly seeded in Division 1. Today Nova participates in the regional EDP League, widely regarded as the top player development league in the country, as well as the highly respected and professional New England Club Soccer League (NECSL). We have been fortunate to participate in the most competitive and respected competitions while countless players at the highest levels are proud to call themselves part of the Nova family, we are most proud that we continually hold that family like atmosphere. When you play for Nova you play for a club, not just a team. At Nova we recognize we don’t just coach soccer. We coach people that play soccer. Nova has always been player centered and not registration driven.
